Efficacy in conversations about climate change and biodiversity-loss policies (qualitative briefing)
This report summarizes the results of qualititative research that engaged 54 individuals from the so-called “moveable middle” of Canada’s spectrum of environmental opinion in detailed online discussions about three potentially transformative policies proposed by the federal government: 30% land and ocean conservation by 2030, a cap on carbon emissions from the oil & gas sector, and a clean electricity standard. The research revealed possible barriers to broadening support for these policies.
